All members must comply with UK laws, including the Equality Act 2010, GDPR (Data Protection Act 2018), Online Safety Act 2023 and the Communications Act 2003.  Violations may result in warnings, post removal, or account suspension.

To comply with the Online Safety Act 2023 and our obligations to protect our patrons we only allow subscribed users to post within our Forums - this ensures a safe space for genuine help and discussion

  • Be Kind and Empathetic: Treat all members with respect and compassion, we all recognise the emotional challenges of dementia.
  • No Harassment or Bullying: Never post abusive, threatening, or derogatory content towards any member or group.
  • Inclusive Language: Use person-first language (e.g., "person with dementia") and avoid stigmatising terms.
  • No Discrimination: Prohibit discrimination based on age, disability, race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation, per the Equality Act 2010.
  • Share Experiences Only: Post personal stories or coping strategies, but never give or seek medical, legal, or financial advice.
  • Direct to Professionals: If medical advice is requested, recommend that the member contacts NHS services, their GP or in the event of an emergency 999.
  • No Self-Diagnosis: Avoid diagnosing yourself or others; leave that to qualified healthcare professionals.
  • Protect Privacy: Never share your or others' personal details, including full names, addresses, phone numbers, or emails.
  • GDPR Compliance: Respect data protection laws - do not collect, store, or share any personal data without explicit consent.
  • No Soliciting Services: Do not promote paid services, products, or fundraising without moderator approval.
  • No Spam or Advertising: Keep posts on-topic; no unsolicited links to external sites unless relevant and approved.
  • Report Concerns: Use the report button for any rule breaking posts instead of engaging, defending or retaliating.
  • No Hate Speech: Banned content inciting hatred or violence, in line with UK hate crime legislation.
  • Confidentiality in Threads: Do not screenshot or share forum discussions outside the community.
  • No Illegal Content: We prohibit sharing content that breaches UK laws, such as defamation or indecent material.
  • Malicious Communications Ban: Avoid grossly offensive, suggestive, obscene, or menacing messages, per the Communications Act 2003.
  • Supportive Tone: Please frame posts positively; if venting frustration, focus on seeking support, not blaming.
  • No Trolling: Do not post to provoke reactions or disrupt discussions.
  • Language Guidelines: Post in English only to ensure accessibility for all UK members.
  • No Graphic Details: Avoid explicit descriptions of medical procedures or distressing events that could trigger others.
  • Moderator Respect: Moderators allow this platform to live and breathe.  Please follow moderator instructions promptly; do not argue in public threads.
  • Account Responsibility: Use one account per person; do not create multiples to evade bans.
  • Image and Media Rules: Only upload appropriate, non-identifiable images; no photos of individuals without consent.
  • No Commercial Endorsements: Do not endorse specific brands or products without disclosure.
  • Grief and Loss Sensitivity: Be mindful when discussing end-of-life topics; tag sensitive posts if needed.
  • Accessibility: Use clear, concise language; avoid excessive emojis or jargon.
  • Logout on Shared Devices: Secure your account to prevent unauthorised access.
  • Ongoing Commitment: Dementia Hub reviews these rules periodically; the forum reserves the right to update them for legal or community needs.
  • In addition to these Forum rules our terms of service and privacy policy - which were agreed to when you joined.

For new members, all posts and replies will be moderated for approval until the system generates a Trust level - Dementia Hub reserves the right to remove any posts or material it deems to be unsuitable.  By using the service you agree to the above.
