Frequently Asked Questions

What is Dementia Hub UK?
Dementia Hub UK is a free online resource and community dedicated to providing help, advice, guidance, and support for everyone affected by all types of dementia. We bring together the latest global research, news, treatments, coping strategies, and personal stories to educate, offer hope, and ensure no one faces dementia alone.
Is membership free?
Yes, membership is completely free. You can register in less than a minute to access the full site, including forums and community features.
Are there any paid membership options?
Many supporters choose to help in funding the important work Dementia Hub does by keeping the site operational and up to date with all the latest news and research - running the platform unfortunately comes with costs, which we as developers pay out of our family budget! For those who want to help there is an optional "Treat us to a coffee" membership for £3 per month - not a lot we know, but it really helps supports the site and increase our reach to those who need us most. No pressure to choose this, that choice is yours to make.
How do I sign up as a new member?
Simply go to the homepage or membership page and click to register either as a free member or £3 a month if you want to help us grow and develop the site. It takes about a minute to create an account — no payment details are needed for the free level.
Is there an audio version of the site?
Yes, each page, including news articles, has its own audio version for those who would prefer to listen to the content rather than read. This is a recent feature addition, funded by those £3 coffee's you generously help us with, so please bear with us whilst we get everything updated!
What kind of content can I find on the site?
You'll find sections on the latest global dementia news, drugs and treatments (including trials), symptoms and early diagnosis, coping strategies, herbal and natural remedies, statistics, legal aspects, charity updates, brain training games, and a lot more - we are adding resources as quickly as we can.
Is there a forum for members?
Yes, there are friendly forums where you can share experiences, ask for advice, offer support, and connect with others on similar journeys. There are plenty of off-topic discussions also. Presently, these are switched off as we are ensuring we comply with the Online Safety Act for the protection of our members - we expect the Forums to be active again sometime in March 2026.
Do I need to register to use the forum?
Yes, registration (free) is required to post, reply, or fully participate in the forums for privacy and community safety.
Is the advice on the forum from medical professionals?
Generally no, the forum is peer-led by members sharing personal experiences although from time to time there maybe input from medical professionals. However, Dementia Hub does not vouch for any members' credentials, their opinions or their recommendations, the Forum is not a substitute for professional medical advice — always consult your GP or a qualified expert for health decisions.
